| Consolidated Project For SME Development in India |
| With the ultimate goal of contributing to the reduction of poverty through growth and realising the significant role played by the micro, small & medium sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the economic growth of India, the project aims at the implementation of a comprehensive programme for SME Development. The target of the project is the "Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises" as defined by the Ministry of MSMEs, Government of India.
The project is based on an innovative approach integrating development activities in terms of cluster twinning, with investment and technology promotion and technical assistance in the field of credit , which makes the project not only unique but also differentiates from the traditional UNIDO cluster development projects.
The three-year project, operational from February 2007, was agreed upon jointly by the Ministry of External Affairs, General Directorate for Cooperation and Development Govt. of Italy, and the Development Commissioner Ministry of MSMEs, (DC-MSMEs), Government of India as its counterpart in implementation. The project is fully funded by the Government of Italy and has UNIDO as the programme implementing agency
The Overall Scope of the project is to support the development of the Indian MSMEs to enable them to become globally competitive through promotion of Business Partnerships. |

| Cluster Twinning |

|
Cluster Twinning activities aim at contributing to the upgrading of existing but underperforming Indian clusters, with special emphasis on the creation of cooperation agreement between Indian and Italian clusters, to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of the firms within a cluster framework.
Main Activities
- Cooperation arrangements at association level between selected Indian and Italian Clusters culminating into a win-win situation in forging business linkages,
- Competency building in Indian clusters through Training, Business Development Services, Export Consortia and replicating successful Italian cluster models (disseminate the cluster best practices)
- Facilitating sustainable business networks between clusters focusing on value chain actors
<- Up-grading/Competency building of participating MSMEs in the programme to sustain sustain global competition.

| Investment and Technology Promotion |
|

The Mutual Credit Guarantee Fund Schemes refers to the successful Italian experience of Mutual Guarantee Associations and has the objective of providing new means of growing to those entrepreneurs who, in spite of having potential for growth and sound ideas, might experience serious difficulties in mobilizing the financial resources to implement their projects.
Main Activities
- Subcontracting Promotion Profiling selected SMEs in the Indian cluster through UNIDO’s Subcontracting Partnership Exchange (SPX) Program & creation of a central project database enabling viable opportunity search towards subcontracting, supplier awareness programs, participation in international / domestic trade fairs / exhibitions and Networking with UNIDO’s Investment and Technology Promotion Offices
- Investment-Match Making
Facilitation in developing international promotion tools, Investment Project Analysis & Profiles of select MSMEs through COMFAR, Market Research and Intelligence and promotion of B2B
- Financing support Schemes for Business Partnership
International and Domestic Equity Financing Promotion, Local Equity Fund Development
- Technology Transfer Schemes
Technology Awareness Programmes and Technology Transfer Schemes including Joint ventures

| The Mutual Credit Guarantee Schemes |

The Mutual Credit Guarantee Fund Schemes refers the Italian successful experience of Mutual Guarantee Associations and has the objective to provide new means to grow to those entrepreneurs who, in spite of having potential for growth and sound ideas, might experience serious difficulties in mobilizing the financial resources to implement their projects.
Main Activities
- Organization of workshops and seminars at enterprises, associations, banks and national entities level to build awareness of benefits and obligations for the MCGF stakeholders.
- Disseminating the Italian MCGF concept (CONFIDI ) at Bank and Financial institution level.
- Facilitation to firms and clusters' associations in understanding the concept and mechanism of the Italian experience and schemes
