*Supplier Development Program (SDP) for Auto Component manufacturers in Pune district, 1st Awareness Seminar, 26 June 2009*
Mahratta Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) and Auto Cluster of Pune (ACP), in cooperation with CII and ACMA, are supporting the implementation of UNIDO SDP organizing the first of a series of SDP Awareness Seminars on 26th June 2009, 15:00pm at the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce premises. 505, A-Wing,MCCIA Trade Tower, ICC Complex, 403, Senapati Bapat Road, Pune.
International experts will illustrate (i) the global automotive sector trends and the evolution of the suppliers’ position, (ii) and selected OEMs domestic and international automakers’ purchasing strategies from India and (iii) and the UNIDO SDP will be presented in detail. |

- A validation and dissemination workshop on the footwear training program will take place in Chennai in June 12th. ISF, the 25 shoe manufacturers and the local trainers from CFTI, CLRI and IIL who have been involved in the program, the two Italian experts and the UNIDO' s staff will organize a workshop to take stock of the two month training program (Phase I) conducted between Ambur, Ranipet and Chennai.
- The phase II will be conducted in Italy in October 2008: a stage of two weeks c/o Italian shoe manufacturers, working meeting with producers of technology and visit to the international exhibition LineaPelle-Simac
- A ceremony to sign a cooperation agreement between the Italian tanning cluster association (Assoconciatori-Santa Croce Tuscany) and the Tamil Nadu tanning cluster, (IFLMEA), will take place in Italy on June 9th. The signing of the agreement will be followed by a study tour of the India representatives to the Italian Cluster to understand the functioning of the model and the services rendered to the Italian MSMEs
- The first of three planned interventions during the 2008, will start in Shantiniketan in June 2008. An Italian expert will start the process of upgrading the underperforming cluster's micro enterprises by conducting training sessions for 8 leather craftsmen and 4 selected designers. A local training institute, Freya, will ensure the follow-up between the three international interventions
- Formation of Consortia: Consortia of growth oriented & potential SMEs in Leather, Footwear and Auto Components will be formed during July- August for building business competencies enabling for Twining operations. These consortia will focus on increased business networks, better capacity utilization and technology up-gradation.
- Three to four knowledge dissemination workshops will be conducted during July- December 08 in best footwear manufacturing practices by institutions like CFTI & CLRI for the benefit of larger SMEs in the cluster. These best practices are derived from the Italian experience of the intervention 'Manufacturing Module'.

- PE/VC : an Expert Group Meeting (EGM) of will be organized in Milan at the end of June. It will be attended by the Indian, Italian, European project's consultants and investors from Europe to to consolidate and present the initial findings : (i) the short list of international interested funds in SME Auto Components and Leather Goods investments in India, (ii) their investment characteristics, preferences and modus operandi, (iii) and most importantly the required readiness of Indian SMEs in these sectors for the potential investment participation. The expected outcome will outline the second phase that the Project will roll out in the 2nd half 2008 and all 2009, in the actual matching between PE/VC and potential Indian SMEs.

| News-Mutual Credit Guarantee Schemes Component |

- An Italian delegation will be visiting India from the 2nd to the 6th June 2008 : to introduce the modalities of the Italian Mutual Guarantee Schemes amongst (i) Indian policy makers, (ii) MSME associations/Firms and (iii) bankers and share with them the Italian experience of the MGAs called "CONFIDI" and to provide critical inputs to the Govt. of India organizations for structuring Mutual Credit Guarantee Schemes in India. The delegation will be composed of Italian experts from: UNIONFIDI (Mutual Credit Guarantee Association), INTESASANPAOLO (largest Italian private bank, the UNIDO HQs, Investment.
